Release

Ok, I need to let this go. I sent pics of the kids to Mom and Dad when I was in Florida and I got back a "those were ugly pictures, why would you take them?" But I love those kids and I loved those pictures, because they were taken when we were doing something together. They are the nearest thing I'll have to grandkids, and it really, really hurt my feelings, even though I know the criticism was of the picture, NOT the kids.

But, I suppose art is not about approval, and I STILL love this picture, so here it is. Be free little ice cream face!

I can't believe it; that is a wonderful photo and I would be proud to have taken it! We have a particular etching, slightly abstract, which my mother disapproved of. She once said 'Do you STILL like that picture?' The answer was 'Yes.'But too politely.

OMG: Your parents and my MIL are exactly the same. The guy who made the video at our wedding made us a short video of Zoe's baby pics because he was so far behind on finishing our wedding video. It was the most beautiful video and it made me cry every time I watched it. Know what my MIL said? It's the worst video I've ever seen. It looks like you made it on your home computer. I truly don't know what makes people act that way. I'm just trying to remind myself that I can't control how other people act or what they say ... only how I choose to react to it. The pic is beautiful and shows a kid having a great time. Don't let anyone make you think any differently.

I guess we should not be surprised that the generation gap still exists after we grow up. It's not as if we hit 40 and suddenly become their peers.

And truly, it isn't as bad as it was when I was 15 and they were my age-we've both grown a lot since then.

I was a brat and stopped sharing pictures for awhile with them-but that isn't fair to me or to them. If no one ever shows them another view, how will they learn to appreciate it?
