it's amazing what that hunk of plastic has accomplished over the years. some of my fondest memories involve my sister and me playing for hours on end with our barbies. you can tell from my own post that i can't get that skinny girl outta my head!

Well done and I agree with you 100 %. I never owned a Barbie.
Deprived? Don't think so. Hope my grandkids can skip this too. But have a best friend who still collects them???

Right ON!

You know, I heard on a documentary that the maker never intended for her to be unrealistically skinny. It's just that the bulky waistbanded clothes looked better if Barbie had a skinny waist. I know, I know, excuses.....

I have to admit. I loved loved loved my Barbies when I was growing up and my daughter loves her Barbies. But I don't think it was Barbie that made me wish I was skinny. I think it was the mean, oh so popular girls in my class at school who made me feel bad about myself.
