Letting Them Be

It is much more difficult to let someone be who they are
Than it is to resist the urge to change them
But that is the only way to breech their defenses
And in the process
You both
may
change

Amen, sister. I've learned that lesson and I'm better for it.

The odd thing, is that the person I was thinking of when I wrote the poem was a somewhat elderly, bible thumping preacher. But for a moment in time, we were able to see the goodness in one another and that our aims at the moment, were one and the same.

Ah Debra Kay - very nice. No one likes to think it's *us* who has potential to change :) I liked your nightpoem by the way ... the coyote call brings me comfort for some strange reason ... prairie girl that I am.
