Poetry Challenge

I'm Nobody!
0
I’m nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us — don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know.
0
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
Human Being posted the above poem by Emily Dickinson and challenged us to change it up a bit. Here is mine.

I'm happy, who are you?
Are you happy too?
Then there's a pair of us-don't tell
They'd banish us if they knew

How dreary to be busy
How public, like a frog
Proclaiming what you do all day
To a disinterested bog

This is dedicated to the lady who kept me awake from Phoenix to OKC talking to her seatmate in a voice that carried across the aisle...proclaiming who she was by listing out what she had, what she did.....yadda yadda yadda.

we've missed you, glad your trip was good and that Larry the Labryinth is still growing. I like your poem, very like you my friend.

what a line... that's got what you call resonance... nice bounce off emily... did you know that she published only a couple of pieces while she was alive and that her family discouraged her writing... she hid them all away in a big desk and it was only after she died that her sister (i think) found all she had written and looked to get it printed... the publisher thought he had found a goldmine... as you would...

catch you on the flip side...

I am more than a dot, and so are you, allow others to make you just a dot and you allow them to take your ego away from you. Never allow that.

I (this part of me) may just be a dot in cosmic space and time but I'm, we are all a part of something much bigger and older.

I'm bigger than life on this planet and I will allow no one to take that away from me. Hugs.

Dreary to be busy? Well it gets even more dreary to be still. After a while anyway, seek out a balance.
