Bette

Forever Young I couldn't find the images of Bette I photoshopped into a blue snake, so here she is in her normal living color. She's a bit longer now, maybe 9 feet? It's hard to measure a snake when no one will help.

Althought Bette scares the crap out of me, she is quite beautiful : )

Those were both taken on days when she was really purple-some days she looks purple, other days silver.

She really IS pretty, and always gives fair warnng if she isn't in the mood to be mucked with (which is rare, she's very laid back).

Oh, Scarlett's just a little corn snake. Bette is a half dwarf retic (meaning she'll be 12 feet not 20). There's also Tarzan and Mollie, the Tigers, Hank, the Superdwarf, Carrie the Jampea, (all variations of retics). Then we have Nelson Mandella, the Mojave Ball Python and about 10 brides to be (more or less), a blood python who is completely ill tempered and Scarlett's boyfriend, Andy Warhol. They all live in the snake room and come out one at a time with supervision for a romp around the sunroom and a dip in the baththub.

Elvis the kingsnake, lives in the living room because he's most active during telly time and he enjoys being the midst of things. I suppose with the holidays and visitors and such, I will move him to the snake room.

I used to have vivs all over the house, but people really ARE terrified. Now I start by bringing Scarlett out and work up if someone wants to see a snake.

I have walked up and down the street a few times with some of the bigger snakes, but in truth it was to frighten my across the street neighbors who yell at their kids horribly. I've noticed the grumpy man on the porch shuts his fat face if I come strolling out with a big old snake on my arm and wave at him. Nelson Mandella, Mojave Ball python and protector of children.

There are a lot superstitious people in Oklahoma, and most of my neighbors know me for who I really am, but if these people are a little scared of me and it helps their kids, I'll play the part.

But you'd be perfectly safe having tea with me-I won't even pull a snake out if asked if I think someone is going to freak out about it and I would never try to scare anyone (unless they are ugly people yelling at children).

BTW I should have said Elvis lives in a vivarium in the the living room-no one is allowed to roam unsupervised.

My goodness, if Bette is an immature half dwarf, I'd hate to see the full sized adult version! Bette is impressive enough for me!

I will tell the story, but it's Friday now, so I'll let Carrie the Jampea illustrate superstition....
(that's her baby picture, wasn't she adorable?)
